 MANAGEMENT & LOGISTICS BASICS

  Operations Management

  The aim is to provide an introduction to Operations Management with a focus on the importance of Business Process Management. Students will understand the core principles of analysing, modelling and improving business processes.

 

  Marketing Management

  The marketing course concentrates on management environment to analyze and decide the most important variables in marketing in order to achieve the best relationship with customers and the firm's target markets.

 

  Managerial Economics

  The course aims at understanding and applying an economic perspective to a firm's economic decision making, strategy formulation, competitive environment and its strategic interaction with other firms in different types of markets.

 

  Analysis and Decision Science

  Enable students to formulate business problems as decision models and solve them by intelligent use of management science techniques.

 

  Financial Accounting

  Basic understanding of the elements and methods of financial accounting for external purposes (Financial Reporting) and for internal purposes (Cost Accounting).

 

  Supply Chain Logistics (Introduction)

  The aim of this lecture is to deepen the knowledge of the participants about the contents of logistics and supply chain management, including new trends in logistics and SCM. The focus is set on strategic decisions and the performance measurement of logistic systems.

 

  Transportation Management

  Transportation Management is the application of managerial principles to the planning, design and operation of transportation systems. The course presents the different divisions of transportation systems, present and future issues in connection with them, including future challenges to cope be coped with. It also covers geometric design, surfaces and guidelines, traffic analysis techniques, traffic flow and control as well as goods transportation infrastructure and environmental policies.

 

  Business Writing

  Learning how to organize data, facts and thoughts to build a logical storyline for written / oral communications that supports a key message

 

  Presentation Techniques

  Learning how to design and deliver an effective presentation

  Supply Chain Logistics (Procurement Logistics)

  • Presentation of general supply management questions

  Financial Management

  This course concentrates on the basic principles of corporate and project finance and provides practical tools for financial decisions and valuation. Completion of the course will provide participants with a sound knowledge of company finance and financing of internal projects, liquidity planning and evaluation techniques as well as conducting Mergers & Acquisitions.

 

  Management Accounting

  • Improving the analytical competence in structuring management accounting problems

  Logistics & IT Systems

  The aim of this module is to develop abilities with IT tools in the logistics sector, and to analyze their advantages and shortcomings when dealing with investments and decision making related to IT systems.

 

  Intercultural Factors

  The students will be able to analyze intercultural business communication from various academic perspectives using different theoretical concepts. The course also focuses on the development of strategic competence for detecting situational meaning and improving intercultural business relations.

 

  Management Communications

  This course provides the students with sound knowledge on appraisal interviews. They will know the importance of them and the impact of intercultural differences on conducting these.

 

  ORGANIZATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

 

  Macroeconomics

  The main goals of this course are to provide an integrated view of macroeconomics and to make close contact with current macroeconomic events. This is enriched with with advanced knowledge about the economic importance of transport costs and transport infrastructure in logistics.

 

  Logistics and Supply Chain Controlling

  Provide an overview over concepts and tools used for logistics and supply chain controlling; Give insights into selected tools, practise the use of these tools in exercises and case studies

 

  International Logistics Management

  To Increase the understanding for the international aspects of logistics. Logistics is the prime area to grow in importance due to and benefit from globalisation. Collaboration of supply chain partners is mandatory.

 

  Leadership

  Company's leaders need to have a strong sense of entrepreneurship and to be active promoters of change in the company. This course deals with both aspects and thereby empowers participants to create conditions that enable members of the organization to perform to maximum effect.

 

  Organizational Behaviour

  This course provides participants both with a sound knowledge about human behaviour in organizations and about the theory and practice of organizational design. The participants get to know how individuals and groups in organizations behave, how decisions are made and how communication can be enhanced to support organizational learning.

 

  Advanced Supply Chain Management

  This course covers strategies for improving the relationship of all participants in the product or service flow during which several business processes are performed, such as procurement, order fulfilment, product development and commercialization. The course also examines the customer relationship management, customer service, manufacturing flow, and returns, all of them based on the coordination of information flow.

 

  Logistics Technologies

  This course covers the technological aspect of logistics systems such as in-house logistics and transportation, warehouse design and management, and packaging. Another close look will be taken at logistics and environment.

 

  Supply Chain Logistics (Production Logistics)

  This course is designed to enhance the participant's knowledge about logistics systems used in production. The course will be structured from a producing company's point of view and contain single-company production systems as well as multi-company production systems. The chosen point of view enables the participants to derive requirements for logistics service providers offering services in production logistics.

 

  Negotiation Skills

  Intensive workshop training in negotiation skills, with an emphasis on win-win outcomes

 

  Conflict Management

  Effective mediation, problem-solving for conflict situations

 

  Ethics

  Teach the students the different forms and strategies of power and how to evaluate them according to sound moral principles.

 

  ADVANCED TOPICS

 

  Supply Chain Logistics (Distribution Logistics)

  This course will teach the participants modern aspects of distribution systems as part of Supply Chains. This includes design, planning, coordination, and controlling of distribution systems.

 

  e-Logistics

  The goal of e-logistics is to automate logistics processes and provide end-to-end fulfilments with harmonized supply chain management services in order to meet the changing requirements of more dispersed and fragmented flows of goods. This course deals with the challenges of realizing typical e-logistics processes such as request for quotes, shipping, and tracking.

 

  International Law

  This course covers topics in international law affecting trade and investments and the role of international law in global affairs. Participants will acquire an in-depth understanding of international and certain national laws to be considered by logistics companies when dealing on a global level.

 

  Logistics Services

  The importance of logistics service providers in present-day business processes is growing rapidly. They offer a wide and ever-expanding variety of services to support their customers' business. These range from simple services such as transportation or warehousing to advanced services in information and communication, assembly, or management of c-parts. This course deals with the challenges for logistics service providers, among others the development and design of services in logistics, organization, and technical constraints.

 

  Maritime and intermodal Logistics

  Passenger Transportation

  The Passenger Transportation course aims to provide a management perspective for coordinating people and transport, as well as studying newly developing transport technologies. This course examines topics such as transport needs analysis, urban and inter-city transport, types of services, managing infrastructure and operative environment, and looks at communication and information systems in passenger transportation management.
